With the grace of Shri Ganesh ji and the blessings of our elders, the Saxena and Khanna families invite you, with your whole family, to the wedding of Madhav and Ruhi. The phere are in the late morning and lunch is in the sun, so come early and stay long.

Our story

A Delhi story, mostly in traffic

East Delhi and West Delhi: forty minutes apart, two hours at rush hour. Somebody made the trip every Sunday anyway.

  1. 2023

    The first hello

    A friend's wedding in Chhatarpur, in December. Both were hiding from the dance floor at the chaat counter, and both wanted the last aloo tikki. They split it.

  2. 2025

    The roka

    Both mothers turned up in pink without asking each other. The photographer still talks about it.

  3. 2026

    Phere in the sun

    A day wedding, because Nani wants to see every phera properly, without a torch. Come and sit with her.

  1. Mehndi

    3 pm

    Khanna house, Rajouri Garden

    Two mehndi didis, a dholki, and every aunty's opinion on how dark the colour will come out.

    DressGreens. The aunties have already decided which green.

    10:30 am

    Anaar Bagh, the back lawn

    On the lawn in the December sun. Haldi first, gajar ka halwa after, and no one goes home clean.

    Both families have rehearsed. Only one has rehearsed well. If the fog rolls in, the dance floor is the warmest place in Delhi.

    Chooda & Phere

    9 am

    Anaar Bagh, the mandap on the front lawn

    Chooda and kaleere at 9. Unmarried cousins, stand close when Ruhi shakes her kaleere. Baraat at 10, jaimala after, phere at the 11 o'clock muhurat.

    DressDaylight pastels. Pink is welcome, both mothers will be in it.

    1 pm

    Lunch in the winter sun. The chaat counter opens first, and the aunties get there before it does. Vidaai at about 4.

Getting here

  • By air

    IGI Airport is about 40 minutes from the farmhouse, longer in the evening rush. Send us your flight and someone will be at Terminal 3.

  • By metro

    Take the Yellow Line to Chhatarpur. A shuttle waits at Gate 2 every 20 minutes, from 8 in the morning on the wedding day.

  • Parking

    Valet at the farmhouse gate. Please do not park on Mandi Road, it is narrow and the neighbours have opinions.

  • December mornings

    About 8°C at chooda time, 22°C by lunch, and fog after dark. Dress in layers and keep a shawl for the sangeet.
