Our story

From hello to Laavan

It began at a cousin's wedding in Ludhiana, somewhere between the golgappa stall and the dance floor.

  1. 2024

    The first hello

    Gurnoor asked for a dance. Simar said his bhangra needed work. He has been practising ever since.

  2. 2025

    The roka

    Two families, one plate of pinni, and a pakki gal before the chai was poured.

  3. 2026

    Laavan

    Four rounds in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, with all of you in the sangat.

    12 pm

    Phulkari Greens, Airport Road

    Mummy ji drapes the chunni, the rings go on, and the first box of pinni is opened. Lunch after.

    Dholki, boliyan and giddha in the vehra. Bring your loudest tappe.

    The nanke arrive with lit gaggars on their heads and wake up the whole lane. Sleep is not on the programme.

  • By air

    Amritsar airport is about 25 minutes from Ranjit Avenue.

  • By train

    Amritsar Junction is about 15 minutes away. Send us your train and someone will be at the station.

  • Where to stay

    Rooms are kept for family coming from out of town. Mention it in your reply.

  • November mornings

    It is about 10°C at sehra bandi time. A shawl for the Gurdwara, a jacket for the jaggo.
